Short course description

Short course description

Content of the short-term learning experience

The advanced production systems design is a necessity in modern times, where only global competitiveness and rapid adaptability to global dynamics enable companies to achieve long-term social, economic and environmental justification. The training will cover the following content:

  • Advanced production systems
  • Designing a production system:

- Capacity planning in production - substantive and computational approach

- Deployment of production equipment - substantive and computational approach

  • OEE indicator
  • Computer modeling of advanced production systems
  • Computer simulations in advanced production systems

Coordinator of the short-term learning experience

Coordinator of the short-term learning experience

Dr. Iztok Palčič

is as a full professor at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (Laboratory for Production & Operations Management). He is currently Vice-Dean for Cooperation with Industry and Quality. He works in the field of production and project management and product development.. His research and professional interests include the study of the manufacturing industry. He is the project leader of the European Manufacturing Survey in Slovenia. He works with industry in a wide range of projects in the field of production planning and management and project work.

Dr. Robert Ojstersek

holds the position of a researcher and assistant professor in the Laboratory for Production and Operations Management. Dr. Ojstersek's academic background includes obtaining a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Maribor in 2020 with the doctoral dissertation entitled: Multi-criteria optimization of flexible job shop scheduling problem with hybrid metaheuristic algorithm. His expertise lies in the field of production management. Dr. Ojstersek is not only a prolific researcher but also actively engages with the academic community. In terms of skills and expertise, Dr. Ojstersek's areas of proficiency include production planning and scheduling, evolutionary computation, multi-objective optimization, simulation modelling, visual computing and collaborative workplaces. His extensive experience, coupled with his diverse skill set, positions him as a valuable asset for the successful execution of the project in the relevant areas.
